CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Call for abstracts

Our call for abstracts is now closed. Would you like to present but missed the deadline? Send us an email to see what we can do: FutureConnectionsScotland@gmail.com

A key aspect of Future Connections is to provide a friendly and supportive environment for participants to share their research with others, with the aim to foster dialogue and possible future research collaborations.

As part of this year's conference we are inviting all PhD, post doc and early career researchers to submit an abstract for a presentation. Participants who are in the early stages of their project may wish to give an introduction or general overview of their research. Those in the later stages of their research project and/or those attending other conferences later in the summer may wish to use this opportunity to present one particular aspect of their research.

Contributions are sought from all disciplines, spaning Anthropology to the Arts, Politics to Physics, Geography to Global Health, and Education to Engineering. If you are researching any aspect of sustainable development, then presenting at Future Connections is for you. Presentations can address empirical, theoretical, or methodological issues, or a combination of these. Contributions could include, but are not limited to:

  • Natural resource use: production and demand-based solutions

  • Sustainability challenges in the Global South

  • Discourses of sustainable development - mainstream and critical perspectives

  • Global problems, local solutions?

  • Methods for studying multi-scalar and multi-disciplinary challenges

  • From research to practice: working with stakeholders

  • Technological innovation or cultural change? Routes to a sustainable future.

Presentations will be limited to 10 minutes + additional time for questions. Participants are free to choose a presentation format of their preference. In other words; traditional, PechaKucha, 3 Minute Thesis style, with/without PowerPoint, the choice is yours!
