ABOUT FC2015

What is Future Connections?

Future Connections was set up by a group of PhD students at the University of St Andrews who realised the need for a forum to enable interdisciplinary connections between researchers with a shared interest in sustainable development. The conference encourages new and innovative ways of collaborative thinking and action in order to develop interdisciplinary, collaborative solutions to some of the complex global challenges we face.

Each year PhD students, post-docs and early career researchers from a broad range of disciplines and institutions from around Scotland have attended the event. By promoting improved communication and understanding of the current research being conducted at Scottish institutions, the conference encourages researchers to broaden our perspectives and promote future collaborations across different disciplines and institutions.

The first Future Connections conference was held in St Andrews in June 2012. Since then the conference has been organised and hosted by PhD students and early career researchers in Edinburgh (2013), Strathclyde (2014), and will this year return to Edinburgh.
